Purpose: To recognize students in the Detroit Metropolitan Area who have been recommended for outstanding leadership and dedication to community service.
Student Selection Process
Students who are involved in school or community organizations
Students who have exhibited leadership in their school or community.
Students who are in grades 9-11
Students who live in the Metropolitan Detroit Area
Students who have been recommended by their school counselor, principal, teacher, minister or community leader
Notification Process
Students will be informed of their selection by phone and/or U.S. mail. (Please Note: There is no money attached to the Community Service and Leadership Award).
Letters of “Congratulations” should be sent to inform recipients of the Community Service and Leadership Award. Information regarding the Metro Detroit Youth Day ceremony will be included.
In the event a student cannot attend the ceremony, due to previous work or school related commitments, a parent or guardian may accept the award in their place. Parents are encouraged to attend to support their child.
